OverOve Near 400 members of Corning Chinese Association (CCA) brought festivities to the local community on Feb 21st. at Painted Post High School in celebration of the 2015 Lunar New Year, also known as the Year of the Sheep, as well as the Goat or Ram. Sheep (goat, or ram) is among the animals that people like most in traditional Chinese culture, which has the characteristics of gentleness and calm, and therefore, heralds a year of promise and prosperity.

The evening started with a feast prepared by local Chinese restaurants, followed by a series of performances prepared by the talented families and friends of CCA members, which represents both the traditional and modern Chinese cultures. Corning City Mayor Rich Negri and numbers of Corning Incorporated leadership members joined the celebration.

Corning Chinese Association represents the largest Chinese community in the Southern Tier region. Its mission is to facilitate networking and personal/professional development amongst the Chinese community and those who are interested in the Chinese culture. It hosts the annual Chinese New Year celebration for more than 10 year, which has become an iconic event in the local community.
